Taking Austin-based Vine from a newly established company to a trusted, visible brand among community bankers and other financial institutions
Overview
Vine is a commercial lending accelerator delivering an AI-powered platform that enables financial institutions to make faster, more accurate lending decisions. As a newly formed company, Vine engaged William Mills Agency in March 2025 to build brand awareness and support growth through strategic media relations and thought leadership. The primary goal was to introduce Vine to the market and establish credibility with community bankers and other financial institution executives. Through a focused, ongoing program of media placements, executive visibility, speaking engagements and strategic announcements, the agency has positioned Vine as a recognizable and trusted organization, helping create familiarity that supports business development efforts and awareness in the financial industry.
Challenge
Vine entered a competitive market with little to no brand recognition. The company’s primary objective was to grow its base of community financial institutions, but early sales outreach revealed a key barrier: prospects were unfamiliar with the Vine name and company value proposition.
The competitive landscape included both fintech providers and entrenched manual processes, with many institutions still relying on spreadsheets and legacy workflows. In many cases, the status quo itself was the biggest competitor. As a newly launched company, Vine also faced limited initial news, few customer references and minimal visibility in industry conversations.
William Mills Agency was engaged to solve a foundational challenge: build awareness, establish credibility and position Vine as a relevant, differentiated player in commercial and agricultural lending technology.
Objectives
William Mills Agency developed a strategic communications program to build awareness for Vine and support its growth in community financial institutions. The engagement has centered on four core objectives:
- Establishing meaningful visibility among community financial institutions so Vine becomes a familiar and credible name during vendor research, peer conversations and sales outreach.
- Positioning the company’s executive leadership as informed, forward-looking voices in commercial lending and AI-driven decisioning through interviews, bylines and speaking opportunities.
- Expanding Vine’s digital presence, particularly on LinkedIn, to ensure earned media coverage continues to reach and engage relevant banking audiences over time.
- Supporting business development efforts by creating a “warm introduction” effect, where prospects are already familiar with Vine’s name, messaging and value proposition prior to sales engagement.
Strategy and Execution
William Mills Agency implemented a strategic, multi-channel communications program designed to build both awareness and credibility over time.
The team began by refining and strengthening Vine’s core messaging to clearly articulate its value proposition in a crowded market. From there, the agency executed a proactive media relations strategy, securing podcast appearances, media interviews and contributed bylines that highlighted Vine’s expertise and differentiated approach to commercial and ag lending.
To reinforce momentum, the agency created targeted press releases focused on company growth milestones, including new customer wins, product developments and market activity. These announcements and subsequent media placements helped establish Vine as an active and evolving player in the industry.
In parallel, earned media coverage has been amplified through social media, particularly LinkedIn, to extend reach, grow Vine’s audience and reinforce visibility among key stakeholders. This integrated approach ensures consistent exposure across channels, allowing awareness to build and compound over time.
Results
WMA has delivered consistent and measurable visibility, resulting in 102 total media placements and an advertising value equivalency more than $350,000. Financial trade media interviews have provided a platform for executive voices to share insights directly with the market, while bylines have reinforced Vine’s expertise in commercial lending and automation. Announcements highlighting company milestones have generated broad pickup, with 11 releases resulting in broad media interest. Notable press coverage in publications including Bank Automation News/FinAI, Bank News/BankBeat and Finovate has positioned Vine alongside widely recognized names in the fintech and banking ecosystem.
Beyond earned media, the program has driven meaningful growth in Vine’s digital presence. The company’s LinkedIn following has quadrupled since the start of the engagement. More importantly, media coverage and announcements have translated into sustained engagement, helping extend the reach and impact of each placement while strengthening the visibility of Vine’s leadership team among key audiences.
The increased visibility has also contributed to tangible industry recognition. With strategic coaching and positioning support, Vine secured a demo opportunity at Finovate Spring 2026, a competitive platform that reflects both innovation and relevance in the fintech space. This milestone has further reinforced the company’s credibility and elevated its presence within industry conversations.
Most importantly, the program has begun to deliver clear business impact. Earned media has contributed to inbound interest, including one signed Vine new client and two additional qualified leads directly to a significant BankBeat media byline authored by Vine CEO, David Eads. At the same time, the sales team has reported a shift in outreach effectiveness, as prospects are increasingly familiar with Vine’s name and value proposition. This familiarity reduces friction in early conversations, allowing discussions to move more quickly into meaningful product engagement.
As the program continues, this growing awareness is expected to further strengthen Vine’s market position, supporting both near-term pipeline growth and long-term brand equity.
